New Site Theme

Posted by sgt-d  on 02 May : 10:06  Category: Main

If you aren't logged in, or if you have never set a theme for this site, you will see the new site theme:  Pixeled.

For everyone that has set their theme in the past, you can change your theme to Pixeled to see it.

I like it so far.

For some reason the "track thread" link was missing in the last theme "Lost City".  The author never got back to me regarding this issue, so for now I'm dropping it.

Let me know what you think in the comments section!

I added the new Battlefield Heroes theme to sodpit.com, mcpfx.com and mircpowerpack.net.

If you have never set a theme on sodpit.com you will see this as your theme by default.

Pretty cool.  I'm looking for a Quake Live theme also.

Sodpit Mobile

Posted by sgt-d  on 18 Mar : 00:03  Category: Main

Sodpit ( http://sodpit.com/ ) can now be accessed with your mobile device!

Everything seems functional so far, although I haven't tried to post anything in the forums.

I did try to edit a custom page (an admin function), but that didn't work.

Anyway, leave comments about your results...  I'm curious.

One other quick note...  under Settings -> Personal Info you can now control (on/off) News (All) and News (Main).  Sorry this wasn't working right previously.

If you want to delete your account, try THIS.  I'm not sure if this works yet.

Moral: Don't Drink And Blog...

Posted by sgt-d  on 30 Jan : 20:56  Category: Main

MCP Related News has moved to HERE.

There have been a ton of changes lately, most notably here on this site.

Down time, sorry.  Back.  :p~

The left and right panes have interchanged, I'm not done yet, but I like this layout (theme dependent).

You can now change your user theme (again).  If you find one that suddenly you can't change out of, hit the back button or email me.  Work in progress.  Some are cool, most are shit.

User registrations are 100% functional again, tell your friends, wake the neighbors.

Logins no longer require the stupid number code...  this is only required for new users or lost passwords.

XP Admin and the BitPim installers have been updated.

The only change to XP Admin is that it now loads on the center of the main screen, including dual monitor situations.  I will update the official page someday.  :p~

Games

Posted by sgt-d  on 05 Jan : 13:51  Category: Main

I have been (lightly) messing around with some games lately and wanted to post some information for everyone.

Enemy Territory Quake Wars (ETQW) works great in Windows and Linux (with some kernel tweaks). More information about the linux client for ETQW can be found in the next news section (below).

Quake III (Threewave Arena) also works well in Windows and Linux.

My Unreal Tournament III (UT3) Collector's Edition tin box is still sealed because Epic Games still has not released the linux client that they promised would be released shortly after the game was released. To this date, there is no official announcement other than it is still "stuck in legal".

I will be installing Steam later today and hope to get Team Fortress working in Linux.

Anyway, I have been playing with a lot of other games as well and recently read a review that included all of the titles I've been playing with, and more.

Most of these games work in both Windows and Linux.

3D Shooters...

Comparison of Free Software Shooters

ZDOOM / ezQuake / EGL / Open Quartz / OpenArena / Cube

Sauerbraten / Tremulous / Warsow / World of Padman

Nexuiz / Planet Arena / Dark Horizons - Lore Invasion

Others...

Armagetron / Chromium B.S.U. / DXX Rebirth (Descent) / Frets On Fire

Frets On Fire allows you to rip songs from your PS2 Guitar Hero 2 and 3 discs, or you can download some song packs using most or the popular torrent search sites (no hints).

Loki Games is now closed, but can still be downloaded from a few sites. It works fine on 32-bit Linux, but will not work at all on 64-bit.

meh.
